How much Gas is my Vehicle Emitting?

Knowing whether your emissions control method is working effectively is paramount. That’s why we offer a measuring and reporting service that will track and trend your particulate and gas levels. This service is crucial for Underground Mining Environments.

We use the latest and most trusted measuring equipment available in the market. These tests are conducted on-site for your convenience. Gaseous Testo 340 – Measures levels of Carbon Monoxide, Nitrous Oxide and other harmful gases that can be produced in combustion engines.

The above photo is of our Gaseous Testo 340 machine.

What is Carbon Monoxide?

Carbon monoxide is a colourless, odourless, tasteless gas produced by burning gasoline, wood, propane, charcoal or other fuel. Improperly ventilated appliances and engines, particularly in a tightly sealed or enclosed space, may allow carbon monoxide to accumulate to dangerous levels.

Signs and symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning may include:

  • Dull headache
  • Weakness
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Shortness of breath
  • Confusion
  • Blurred vision
  • Loss of consciousness
The test is conducted twice to compare the difference between the vehicle idling and being revved.

What is Nitrous Oxide?

Nitrous oxide is a colourless, odourless gas. Nitrogen oxides (NOx) are poisonous gases derived from nitrogen and oxygen combustion under high pressure and temperatures. NOx is composed of nitric oxide (NO), and a smaller percentage of more poisonous nitrogen dioxide (NO2). If an individual has too much nitrous oxide at once with limited or no oxygen, they may also develop brain damage.

Signs and symptoms of nitrous oxide poisoning may include:

  • Tightness in the chest
  • Eyes, throat, and nose irritation
  • Difficulty breathing -hallucinations or psychosis
  • Choking
  • Blue tint to the toes, lips, or fingers
  • Increased blood pressure and risk of heart attack or stroke
  • Seizures
  • Increased heart rate
We can print out an instance report for your convenience. We also send a more detailed report.
